I just tried that. Dying, that is. Sorry to mention it but I get sick
every time I go to that old lady's for dinner. I think it's her water.
You've got to be careful about letting elderly people cook for you. I
knew
one person who'd give you a plate of frozen scampi - well, semi-frozen
scampi. He stir-fried it for a few minutes, and put it on a plate, half
thawed. He also tried to poison us with mouldy pizza once. I also knew an
old lady who washed her dishes in luke-warm water, so that all the grease
was left on them. Every plate, cup and saucer in her house was greasy,
carefully stacked away in her cupboard. With people like these you
eventually learn maybe to accept a cup of tea (if you think even that's
safe) but otherwise, be polite but don't eat their food. I've been known
to
bring fish & chips or a Chinese takeaway to people like that - they think
I'm being really kind, but really I'm just taking care of my digestion.
They have a cup-wash machine but she doesn't use it. It could be that old
box of tea she serves me and the water that doesn't come from our well.
Otherwise, it's nice and clean there and so is the lady but she has the
habit of not throwing food away and boils it up again and phones me, bless
her.
Sounds like she has the constitution of an ox if she can eat old reboiled
food like that! No wonder you get sick.
That's interesting. Thanks for that info.I painted thar painting from my window, 1994, from my first flat further
Now, would you like to buy a painting.? Several zeros involved.
I'd buy that one of the old military buildings on Horten Harbour that you
had hanging in your old flat. I really liked that one.

up that street, the last year the ship S/S Christian Radich was in her
permanent berth in Horten, probably built there. She was moved to Bergen
that year with the rest of the Royal Navy. It was a sad day for Horten.
One got used to seeing her come and go, a beautiful sail ship. Christian
Radich became a school ship. The student sailors, their big test was
sailing over to USA and back. Once she hit a storm leaving USA and almost
went down in the North Atlantic. When she finally managed to get across to
Norway and home, the young crew were welcomed with flying colours and
brass bands etc.
My x was Youngman on Christiam Radich and Dekksgutt on a ship called S/S
Winjammer that was in a film--"Port Said," ??? Can't really remember all
the details. Then he was something else, the youngest in the Merchant Navy
and when changes were made, cutting crews, seamen had to have multiple
'jobs' aboard, he became mechanic too, on several ships, his last The
Norwegian America Line
M/S Bergensfjord.
There. A bit of history on the painting.
