I have a box thingie that has a red light and a green,

No. I plug it in until the light goes over to green

That the light goes green says the charger and batteries are ok.

How did it change from running well to running slowly?

That's the big question.

Was it that it was running well when you last used it, and three months
later it was not so good?

Yes.

Right, so it didn't like the cold and damp then.

I think you are on to something there. It stood out in the garden in under
zero for a few months. It's funny tho'. If I stop, wait a few seconds, then
start again, I get full speed out of it but it's only for a few minutes, then the
blooming thing goes back to crawl 'fart' again.

Ah well, there you go. The fact that it will go fast means the
batteries, motors and transmission are ok: it's the speed
controller that's the most likely problem. You got something
in there that is ok when cold, but goes faulty when it warms
up. I'd suspect the power transistors (they have a hard life).

No fun at all and it seems to go faster up steep hills.

That's interesting. That may mean that the puddle of water in
the speed controller box is all running down to the back corner,
out of the way of the electronics. ;-)

ROOOOFL. I almost believed you there.

I'm not joking: it can happen (though "puddle" might be a wee
exaggeration). There're wide variations in the build quality of
such things, and it's often easier for water to get in than to get
out.

Thought about the jelly stuff in the battery.

From what angle?

Do you have WD40 in Norway?
<http://www.wd40.co.uk/index.cfm?articleid=1519>

I don't know. I thougt that was the stuff that I sprayed in my ear
that time. I'll ask around.

It's a very thin mineral oil.

Can you locate the motor speed controller box?
(Follow the wires back from the motors.)

Orlando. He wants you to break the law. What? You already have.?
Orly! OOOOrly! Bother. He's still in Farsund.

If Orly starts dismantling things, I want good, close-up photos
from the beginning.

It lay in small bits all yesterday. He pulled out plugs and ....... not telling
.......put them in again, without result. Same old problem. Gees, people
were walking by me. I'm not that old. Sob.

Ah, well it's good to know he can dismantle it ok.
