New year resolution -- don't be logical, I have come to an age when
it doesn't matter any more.
Have now completed 8 of the marathon churcha-paintathon.

Thoncha-panto-church; painto-chontha-turch; chinkypoodlydoo . . .
reminds me of that episode of 'Friends' where Joey tried to get Phoebe
to teach him French for an acting part he was auditioning for. She'd
say something in French, Joey would say something completely different
but with a fake French accent, and sit there looking pleased with
himself, convinced he'd echoed exactly what Phoebe said. Hilarious. Er
. . . anyone else here got several years' worth of 'Friends' embedded
in their memories, or am I the only saddo here tonight?

I could easily quote you all the lines in every 'Friends'. Although I must
say I am tired of that show. Must have seen every one six times. Unlike
'Seinfeld', which can be watched over and over and still be humourous,
'Friends' wears you out.

The episode you describe, where Joey speaks gibberish with a french accent
and thinks he was speaking french is not very funny either IMHO. I also
didn't like Ross or his monkey.

Ah, there you are - 6 times makes Friends unfunny. I've probably not seen
any episode more than twice, and some of the earlier series I missed
entirely, and am only now catching up on, as they're repeating the whole
thing from the start at the moment.

I liked Ross, though I don't think I've seen much of this monkey - if at
all! (Must be from the ones I missed - gosh, look what I've still got to
look forward to!)
