I have just returned from a trip to the Worlds most beautiful city.
While
I
was in the Emerald City I took a wander through the museum. I noticed
in
the area that covered minerals they had samples of Hematite on show. I
noticed the samples came from the Florence Mine in Cumbria. I was
surprised
as we have so much Hematite in Australia. I asked the bloke and he said
that it was possibly the highest quality Hematite in the world although
difficult to mine. Did't know that and had never heard of it.

I did know they mined haematite here - don't they have some samples of it
in
the Keswick museum? You find a lot of haematite jewellery in places like
the
Rock Shop in Keswick and Ambleside, though whether it's made of the local
stuff I can't be sure. But there are authorities greater than I on this
newsgroup, who will tell us all we want to know ....

PS - remind us which is the Emerald City, please? I can't believe the
World's Most Beautiful City is in Australia! Shirley not... What about
Venice?

Ally, people who have led blameless lives and have had near death
experiences say heaven has a arch shaped harbour bridge with an opera
house on the point!

BTW the reason I haven't been on the ng for a while is that my computer has
passsed away and I am writing this on anold laptop my son-in-law gave me.
It has a tiny keyboard and I misspell every second word.
