The district nurse can work it all out before you're two years old. But
mostly, the matter of being under 5'8" has to do with being a girl.

My best friend's sister emigrated to Toronto when she got married in the
late 60s, and had 2 daughters there. Neither she nor her husband is above
average in height, and the rest of the family who remained in Scotland are
quite normal (heightwise, anyway...). But the 2 girls born in Canada are
both over 6 ft. It's quite astonishing. Apparently they weren't unusual
among the kids at their school either. Is this normal in Canada, Johnny? Are
there lots of huge tall lassies over there?
