I use a Yahoo! address for job hunting, but since you tell me that, I'm going to send one of my Yahoo! identities an invitation to get a gmail address.I like Google even more, now I read that Yahoo have capitulated but Google haven't.I like Google too, and I hope most sincerely that Google can resist pressure to allow the government of the United States to snoop at this level. It's one thing to snoop a suspected terrorist with a warrant or court order, but its another thing to break the law relentlessly and shamelessly.
Our local library is a bastion of discretion and wouldn't let my husband pick up a book for me unless he had my library card. It wasn't technical ineptitude, they could have overridden the system. It was downright vigilance in the protection of my privacy. The Librarians of the more cosmopolitan, more liberally educated, open-minded and economically productive areas are the guards of freedom of information.
