This has become a matter for great debate in our family. What time of day do you have your Christmas dinner?

As a child, we always had our meal in the evening, and many of my friends' families seemed to do the same, although we knew people who ate at dinner(lunch) time too. Steve's family, though, tend to have Christmas dinner at lunch time. Since my son will be with us this year, there'll be 3 of them and 2 of us, so we may have to compromise a bit.

So let's do a quick poll.

Assuming you have a special meal on Christmas day at all:
Q1.What time of day will you eat?
Q2.What will you be cooking this year?

I'll answer my own questions later - we're still arguing about what time to have it!

We will eat Christmas Dinner somewhere between lunch and dinner time - probably about 2-ish. So you could argue that that's 7pm Ally time.

I am currently planning to serve Roast Turkey breast (a few of us are going away for the week the next day and I don't want masses of leftovers.) I'll stuff it with with pork sausage, sage and onion forcemeat (Delia Smith) and oatmeal stuffing (GH 1995). Accompaniaments: Irish bangers, bacon rolls, cranberry sauce (Ocean Spray) and gravy. Veggies: Roast Potatoes, Brussels sprouts and carrots. There will be a (Bought) Crosse & Blackwell, "English-Style (so it must be imported) Brandied Plum Pudding. An irresistibly rich, spicy and flavorful specialty gourmet dessert - ready in minutes" to follow, with cream and icecream and, if I get round to it, brandy butter. I haven't decided on a starter, but it will probably be a prawn cocktail - the only time I do prawn cocktail! Usually I serve them hot off the barbecue. But at Christmas I make a cocktail sauce revved up with horseradish. Later in the day there will be ham sandwiches and mince pies (home made, when I get round to it, with locally produced mincemeat - there's a lot of Irish round here) for anyone still hungry.

On the other hand, I am having a new cooker delivered today, and if that doesn't work, the whole thing could be academic and we'll be dining at Ben's Kosher Deli.
