Re: Just so you know

Consider this. Two cars. One an ordinary family saloon,
and the other an "executive" saloon. They both do exactly
the same thing - they move you (x) miles in (y) hours.

The "executive" car costs more to buy, so you have to work
longer and harder to get it ; it has a more powerful engine, so
it has to have better brakes and bigger tyres which cost more
to replace; and it makes more noise so it has to have more
sound insulation and a bigger silencer; and it uses more fuel
so it costs more to run, so you have to work longer and harder
to run it. The thing that's being maximised here is waste! This
car is a labour _making_ device.

And so it is in life: you work as hard as you can to earn as
much as you can, to buy as much crap as you can, and to
be as wasteful as you can be. ***And make yourself, and
everyone around you unhappy in the process!***

Maybe you should aspire to working less and earning less
and wasting less.

Here's a lifestyle choice for you. You can either;

a) spend a day in the office earning the money to buy
the leaf blower and fuel and ear defenders, and then
spend a day in the garden making an unholy racket
and a cloud of smoke, while thinking how to earn more
money to trade up to that industrial leaf blower, or

b) take a day off work, and spend _two_ days at
home raking up the leaves, while quietly contemplating
how to escape another day in the office.

Or is it just me?
