Come to the Ball! (Announcement)

ANNOUNCEMENT: PLAYFORD BALL & CEILIDH

This Saturday coming (Dec 3rd) there's to be a Playford Ball, followed by a
good, rip-roaring ceilidh, at the Globe Hotel, Cockermouth, starting at
7.30. The Playford Ball is to partly to remind people about Cockermouth's
Georgian Fair, which will be held for the second time next April. The
celilidh is for people who want to dance a bit faster after the elegant
Playford dances.

Music will be provided by the Village Green Ceilidh Band, featuring Bridget
Hilton and Ally McGurk (guests from Piping Hot). The band will be wearing
Georgian costume and there will be a contingent of Belfagan dancers, with
partners, also in costume, to demonstrate some of the dances.

No experience is required! Just enthusiasm! And it's not compulsory to wear
Georgian costume either - many people won't be - but if you do, you'll get a
£1 off your ticket (£6) which can be bought at the Kirkgate Centre or the
Globe itself.

Even if you can't come yourself, please spread the word around and tell your
friends, as the Times and Star managed to forget to put the announcement in
last week's paper... If you know anyone who likes a bit of ceilidh dancing,
please tell them.
