After watching several professionals (bus & taxi drivers) failing to control
their vehicles on the *** ice and crashing into bus shelters and so on, I
once abandoned my car up by the Braids and walked home, which must have been
2 or 3 miles, carrying a big bag of music and a guitar. It's the only time I
ever gave up on it, and it was a very uncomfortable walk with all that
stuff, but it was all too valuable to leave in the car. And a long walk back
when the ice melted to retrieve the car, too.
