Wouldn't that be sad? I wonder what will happen to the birds belonging to 2
of our neighbours? The people on one side have a number of red hens that
wander freely as well as 17 ducks, and 2 doors along in the other direction
there are people who keep all sorts of specialist poultry as well as
ordinary chickens. I hope it's not going to be like foot & mouth all over
again - healthy animals slaughtered in their millions. I'm still getting
over that one...
Mind you, this one is potentially more serious, as an avian flu could be
caught by humans. FMD, despite all the scare stories, couldn't be caught by
people, and in fact isn't the most serious disease out there even for
cattle, which can make a full recovery if left to get on with it.
