from the death in the Holy Shroud.
although it did rather major on the agony of the form of death rather than
on the science of the material. My interpretaion of the chap from Cambridge
was that he would prefer a sample that did not have the contamination, but
that the processes used to get down to the 'real' material were pretty good,
and did not leave an enormous margin of error - certianly not enough to put
the material back 1200 years.
One thing that has never been considered (in the published programs) is that
the images are 'flat' photo type images. If you wrap a cloth around your
face from ear to ear, you'll get an image (say) 300 mm wide and 200mm high.
A photograph will be 150mm wide and 200mm high - this appears to be the
aspect ratio of the shroud image. Also, the image of the front and back of
the body are almost touching, leaving no space for the crown of the head.
Once these basic observation have been explained, I might have more faith in
it being a 'real' shroud.
