Electoral register look-up please...

I am hoping that someone visiting one of the main libraries around Redruth
or Truro, or even the Cornish Studies Centre, might be able to do me a big
favour.

In 1966, my great uncle George A ALLAN moved to 8 Gordons Close in the
village of Stithians. I didn't know the name of his wife until someone
checked the 1976 electoral register which revealed that there was an Ethel
ALLAN registered to vote at that same address.

However, the person who checked the electoral register discovered that next
door at No 9 was a Florence ALLAN. Now this could just be a coincidence, but
I know that George had a brother and I'm wondering whether he had moved to
Stithians to live near him. His brother's name was William A ALLAN.

What I need to do is check the electoral register for some time earlier than
1976 and see if there was ever anyone else living at No 9 other than
Florence. If it turns out that there was and that the name of that person
was William A ALLAN, then I've probably discovered the whereabouts of my
long lost great uncle.

Both of these uncles, and their respective wives, left London in the late
1920's or early 1930's to live and work in Cornwall. Of those left in my
family, there is no one alive who knows what took them down to the
Southwest. We don't have much information at all, but absolutely nothing
about them from when they left London.

I live up in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear and will be coming down to Cornwall
this summer. It would be wonderful if I have a few more details to follow up
by then. If anyone can spare the time to check the electoral register for No
9 Gordons Close, I'd be very thankful indeed. Remember, I'm looking for a
time earlier than 1976. I have absolutely no idea when William A ALLAN died,
so how many years before 1976 I simply don't know.
