This is not a direct reply....just information. I was in my local
Tesco's yesterday. I asked the Manager (as he happened to be floor
walking at the time) 'This big price drop...where is it? The value
Tuna in Brine was 35p the week before Christmas...is now 69p. Also,
how come a box of Gold Leaf was £3.17 last monday, then on tuesday was
£3.29 and now today is £3.19? And while I am asking, why was Tesco's
own brand cat food pouches in gravy £2.48 last week and today is
£2.69'? He didn't answer. I then said the same to a member of
staff. She told me 'Babes...I know..even with my staff discount I
struggle...my money is so tight right now. I work here but doesn't
mean I will keep shopping here.'
I have heard via the lovemoney site that for quality and value,
believe it or not, Sainsbury's is the best at the moment.
Before Christmas I bought a small fruit cake for £6 from Tesco. it was very
good! In the new year they were on sale for £2 so I bought a couple more.
last week, on shelves marked 'SALE' I saw the same cakes priced £6. I
asked a young man in civvies whom I guess to be some kind of manager about
it. He went off to scan it to see if that was right. It was and he
apologised but mentioned to keep an eye out later in the month when they
would probably be reduced again... REDUCED from the SALE price??? hmmm
Did you have fun shopping at Tesco's then?!!
