I have always disagreed with the notion that smacking is violence
and leads
to violent children. It becomes more and more apparent that the
truth is the complete opposite: if disruptive children are not
kept firmly in check as
they are developing - then they turn into violent and disruptive
little
horrors.
"Fifteen children aged between four and six are being excluded
from school
each day for attacking teachers.
Nearly nine in the same age group are banned daily for violent
attacks on
fellow pupils and a further nine a day for persistent disruptive
behaviour, Government figures show.
Three a day are sent home for using foul language to teachers.
Experts blamed soft parenting and teaching for creating a
generation unable
to respect authority or interact socially without lashing out.
They fear that parents struggling to juggle the pressures of
modern life are unable to spend quality time with their
children. Instead many are left unsupervised in front of a TV or
computer and are influenced by the
behaviour they see on screen.

For 'parents struggling to juggle the pressures of modern life' -
read 'parents who are more interested in themselves and their
careers than they
are in raising decent, well behaved children...'
Spare the rod and spoil the child is a truism even today, albeit
put a bit crudely.

Clearly the interpretation of a gullible fool. You should never be
given the responsibility of working with children until your
'blindness' is cured. Next time you go on a plane, let's hope the
mechanics trying to get engine to work properly. don't say, "have
we tried hitting it with a hammer". This is no more a cure for a
faulty engine as beating is for a damaged child. Adults damage
children. Children who attack teachers are seriously damaged, and
should be protected from exposure to bodgers like you, who would
simply re- enforce the damage.
Then please explain why children of my era were so well behaved and
would not have dreamt of hitting a teacher or using foul language
in school...
You lot with your 'ban smacking' philosphy have ruined a generation
of children who are growing up with no manners, no behavioural
skills, and no empathy for the feelings of others.
Can you really not understand the damage you have wrought?

The children from your genereration naturally behaved quite well in
front of men armed with sticks - so took their aggression elsewhere.
It was more covert in school them and you only have to look at the
legions of forces heros' who far from being the saints you depict,
would often beat their wives, their children, the dog, gamble and
get pissed. All because no-one liked talking about feelings!
The very many children who behaved well, did so because the example
at home was loving, responsible, not tainted by awful neglect and
because the children themselves were spoken to by their parents in
a way that was respectful of the child.
Once again you attempt to equate any parent who occasionally applies
mild smacking within a loving relationship with thuggish parenting.
It is dishonest. I was smacked as a child when I overstepped the
mark. Were my parents abusive and neglectful? On the contrary. I had
a wonderful upbringing and loved both my parents dearly. I very
occasionally had need to smack each of my two children. Have they
grown up to be unpleasant thugs? Of course not. They are both now
loving parents themselves, bringing up well behaved kids themselves
and still spending a lot of time with my wife and I because we gave
them a very loving upbringing.
You must break out of this peculiar thought process that any parent
who smacks is brutal and unloving. It is utter utter nonsense.

We know the truth don't we Kevin.
Well I certainly do. I'm not so sure about you however...
