Average is not the same as normal. Average - or 'mean' - is simply aEr, most of us are 'normal' - otherwise it wouldn't be *normal*!Apparently the average person has 2.4 children. In that respect there
is nobody who is "normal"
mathematical construct, normal refers to a range or a pattern.
The dictionary definitions include "average or mean" , "approximately
average" , "complying with accepted community standards" and "within
the expected or accepted range"
And what specific patterns are we looking at when discussing a human
being?
Most people are "normal" in most respects.
Few people are "normal" in *all* respects.
Most people have an above average number of legs.
Most people have two legs. Nobody has three legs, but some people have
only one leg, and a few people have no legs at all. So the average
number of legs is 1.9999. Therefore most people have an above average
number of legs.
