A thoroughly obnoxious remark. It implies that a lecturer should
shag any available girl student as a perk of his job, without
caring that he might be exploiting someone who is living away from
home, maybe immature, maybe vulnerable. Maybe suicidal after he
dumps her.

What a remarkable ability you have to twist a stated fact of life
into something crude and unpleasant. Have you considered making use
of it professionally?

Would you regard it as appropriate for a doctor, giving advice to
medical students, to say the same sort of thing? Something along the
lines of "most doctors know that in their surgery there will be a few
young female patients who flash their tits and ask for advice about
breast examinations. Enjoy! They are a perk of the job!"

So my point is: yes, any dolt can get turned on by an attractive
body. To call it a perk of one's job is immature and disrespectful to
one's students/patients/clients. Instead of stating the obvious in a
crass, laddish way, it would be more appropriate to give advice about
respecting people's boundaries and not exploiting the vulnerable.

Still, you guys can't see it. In your sort of work, any female
attention is welcomed hungrily and nobody looks to you to be a mentor
or role model.

He quite explicity says that university staff should not exploit their
students. What makes you think he's lying?

I don't suppose you've ever been to university, other than to fix the
computers there.

Wrong.

Otherwise you'd know the importance of quoting from your sources to
support the points that you are making.

What he said was this.

"Thanks to the accountability imposed by the Quality Assurance Agency
[the university watchdog] and other intrusive bodies, the days are gone
when a scholar could trade sex for upgrades."
Which supports my stance.

Thank you.

No it doesn't. Let me translate. "Much as we'd like to shag our students,
the interfering busybodies at the QAA prevent us doing so, more's the pity".

His attitude of mind remains obnoxious even though he acknowledges that you
can only look and not touch. Exactly like a doctor who says to his medical
students that it's fun to conduct breast examinations but beware of doing
anything the GMC would disapprove of.
