Dr Immanuel Velikovsky was Jewish and proud of it. He courageously
offered to our tragic civilisation the only valid explanation of the
otherwise bewildering phenomenon of genital mutilation of children by
order of a supposedly loving god.

CIRCUMCISION AND gOD'S PENIS
(It should be understood that the author acknowledges God / The
Almighty / The Creative Power / Allah, Whose existence can be proved
scientifically. The author has the utmost respect for the One Deity,
Which Dr Paul Brunton named The Overself. This section refers
primarily to the planet Saturn, known by many other names in the
historical record, notably Osiris. As a mark of respect for the
Deity,
the term 'god' is written with lower case initial when the word
refers
to a planet.)

A number of remote tribes, who could not have had contact with the
tribe of Abraham in the ancient Middle East, also practice male
genital mutilation, sometimes going much further than just cutting
off
the foreskin. The lifelong psychological damage being inflicted on
the
victims of this practice is horrendous, especially if done to them in
infancy. The 'hygiene' argument for male circumcision is an
embarrassed attempt at rationalization by parents and priests -
riddled with guilt and shame at what they are doing to these
defenceless little babies.
The role of mothers in all of this is particularly bewildering.
HOW COULD ANY MOTHER ABANDON HER BABY TO A GANG OF BLOOD-SOAKED CHILD
MUTILATORS, AND NOT LIFT A FINGER TO FIGHT OFF HER BABY'S ATTACKERS?
This is deeply disturbing. Circumcision negates and reverses
everything we assumed motherhood to be. Circumcision makes us all
feel
very unsafe and insecure.
Only the human female abandons her baby. No mother hen, no female
dog,
would allow an attacker to come at her chick or her puppy with a
knife, and just remain passive.
This negation of the maternal instinct in the human female cries out
for explanation.
The explanation becomes clear when we remember our past.
The people who commit these acts of child mutilation do not know why
they are doing it. When confronted with their crimes, they become
either sheepish or hysterically abusive. Their only 'defence' is that
'god' told someone to do it. But every human being knows it is WRONG
to mutilate a child. If 'god' does not know that it is wrong to
mutilate a child, then 'god' has inferior standards of morality
compared to human beings, so why would anyone worship such a 'god?'
And which 'god' are we talking about here?

Dr Velikovsky was Jewish and proud of it. He offered us the only
satisfactory explanation of the origin of this otherwise bewildering
phenomenon.
When two planets, especially gas giants, draw near to one another, a
long filament of bright gases is drawn out of the equator of the
lesser planet in the direction of the more massive one. The larger
planet (god) would then capture part of this long object, reducing it
in size. This is what our ancestors saw in the sky, at a time of
great
terror and trauma on earth. Jupiter and Saturn were closer to the
earth at that time. Jupiter approached Saturn. An object resembling a
penis protruded from Saturn's equator. Jupiter appeared to cut off
part of Saturn's penis. Soon afterwards, as the more massive Jupiter
drew even closer, Saturn was destabilized and exploded. The deluge
ensued on earth. When the clouds dispersed, a much dimmer
('emasculated') Saturn was discovered in a distant orbit.
The human race was driven insane by the explosion of Saturn (our
ancestors' emotional state - before and after - is depicted vividly
in
the two paintings by Lucas Cranach, 'The Golden Age,' which see).
The demented, grief-crazed survivors of the deluge didn't know what
they were doing when they 'acted out' on their male children the
drama
of semi-castration they had observed among the two major 'gods' in
the
sky.**
Later, the emergency leadership ordered the priests and scribes to
rationalize the practice as having been decreed by 'god.'
'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven' is a phrase which
covers a multitude of sins. 'Heaven' means the sky, and 'thy will' is
whatever the humanized planet-gods seemed to be doing when viewed
from
the perspective of earth's surface. The mutilation of little boy's
penises is a particularly vicious manifestation of that precept. It
is
not the only one.
'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.'
The Egyptian version of the same events in the sky states that Isis
found Osiris (Saturn) in the 'underworld' (dimmed and in a distant
orbit), but was unable to locate his penis. It is interesting to note
that the date the Egyptians gave for the disappearance of Osiris
coincides exactly with the date the Hebrews and Christians give for
the start of the deluge.*
Thankfully, half the population of earth did not adopt circumcision.
Why? Because Jupiter and Saturn were below the horizon on half of the
globe when the drama of semi-castration in the sky was going on, and
so half of the human race retained its sanity with regard to little
boys' penises. 'Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven'
mercifully did not have the same meaning on that half of the globe.
Statues and murals of the 'gods' in pre-Christian times often gave
prominence to the gods' penises. There was also talk of 'divine
masturbation' - hardly surprising if a long filament of light
protruded from a planet-god in the sky, and if this was associated
with the falling to earth of rain, or of manna/ambrosia (the latter
being thought of as seminal fluid on some occasions, but later
regarded as milk after the Venus catastrophes, where a giant woman/
cow, later called Mary, had appeared in the sky). The fact that
mutations in plant and animal life on earth were an accompaniment of
the catastrophes served to emphasize the connection with fertility.
Everything falls into place and all life's mysteries are solved when
you provide the KEY, by facing up to the forgotten history of the
solar system.
Female genital mutilation had a separate rationale behind it. It was
about male power and subjugation of women. There was also an element
of 'if we boys have to suffer this pain and indignity in our penises,
then you girls are going to get it in your vulvas too!' Organized and
vociferous opposition to female genital mutilation is on the rise
today, thankfully, and some prominent men of the tribes in question
support abolition. I am not aware of any corresponding opposition to
male circumcision. We find it difficult to oppose male genital
mutilation because it is an archetype hammered into the collective
consciousness of the tribes whose ancestors were on the half of the
earth with Saturn and Jupiter above the horizon and thus observed
that
ancient pageant in the sky, as Jupiter appeared to swipe away part of
Saturn's penis.
Only by remembering the true history of the solar system can we rid
the world of this major embarrassment of genital mutilation of
children.
Returning to those ancient statues and murals of 'gods' with
prominent
penises, it is interesting to note that the gods' penises often
protruded horizontally out of their bodies, whereas the engorged
human
penis adopts an angle of about eighty degrees from the horizontal.
Why
the discrepancy between god's aroused penis and our aroused penises?
Because when Jupiter approached close to Saturn eleven thousand years
ago and drew that long filament of shiny gases out of Saturn's
equator, the image our ancestors saw in the sky was of a 'god' with
his penis protruding horizontally.
Also, when Constantine's compilation religion (Christianity) took
hold, and its followers started erasing the penises from the ancient
engravings of the gods, and chiseling the penises off the statues, it
wasn't only prudery which motivated them. Much more it was the need
to
sink deeper into amnesia, by forgetting that terrifying confrontation
between Jupiter and Saturn, and the huge celestial penis that
protruded horizontally out of Saturn, and the horrors that were
visited upon the earth soon afterwards.

*Whether that date given by the Hebrews and the Egyptians for the
deluge and the disappearance of Osiris is the correct date - is a
futile debate, just the sort of useless diversionary discussion this
book is trying to avoid. Such debates are meaningless, partly because
we cannot measure time accurately when the length of the year was
changing repeatedly - the last change being from 360 days to 365
days,
only about 2,700 'years' ago as Rome was being built. Our knowledge
is
approximate. But it is enough. The purpose of this book is - among
other things - to avoid fake and futile debates. This book is
concerned only with the essential, with the task of healing the
present tragic civilization.
**The Hebrew tradition (Midrashic) indicates that after the explosion
of Saturn, Noah got blind drunk, and his son Ham castrated his
drunken
father. This can be explained. Saturn had been the supreme luminary
in
the sky before the deluge, the father of the solar system. Jupiter
approached Saturn and one of the moons of Jupiter was seen to cut off
part of a long object protruding from Saturn's middle. While this was
going on in the sky, the earth was tortured and torn by quakes and
tidal waves and volcanic rumblings, only a mild foretaste of what was
to come. The explosion of Saturn drove the entire human race insane.
We are only now today starting to recover a little bit. When the
traumatised son of Noah castrated his father, he was blindly 'acting
out' what our terrified ancestors had seen in the sky.
