His barrister argued that he was not an ordinary motorist but a highly
trained specialist driver although how that makes him less liable for
crashing when he was not on a shout is beyond me. IMO it makes him more
liable. His jail sentence for dangerous driving was overturned and replaced
by a conviction for careless driving and a 3 month ban.

Complete fix if you ask me. It makes a mockery of the justice system.

That's bollocks ..So if a Racing Touring Car driver did the same could
he make the same reasoning cos he is probably a better driver than the
Plod ?

The Stirling Moss defence. But AIRI he wasn't speeding in bad weather
when the police prosecuted him for dangerous driving and the bench
accepted a lesser plea because of his skills.

To be fair, "the bench" didn't.

It was the appeal court which (wrongly IMV) overruled the bench.
