However, the view of Parliament and probably of most of British society, is
that this is a proportionate and justified response in order to combat the
evil of child pornography. I have my doubts about that, but no politician
can afford to question whether the law is reasonable.

It may be that someone in your household downloaded indecent photographs of
children, or viewed a site where such photographs are to be found, or that
these acts were actually committed by someone else, sharing your wireless
internet connection.

Or it may well be nothing whatsoever to do with any Internet activity
from the OP's house.

Other things that can cause sufficient "reasonable suspicion" to get a
search & seizure warrant are:

1) Tip-off by someone claiming to have seen CP on your monitor.
Obviously this can easily be a malicious false allegation, but could
never be proven to be malicious.

2) Credit card details being harvested and the money fraiudulently
taken from it to pay a money laundering web site that also deals in
other "dodgy" stuff such as CP.

3) Your electronic address (email, MSN, chatroom etc) being found on
the computer of a known or suspected sex offender.

4) A confidential report to authorities that you have been behaving
inappropriately with children, or your own children have exhibited
behaviour or said something that caused a nursery school carer or
teacher "cause for concern".

As for online activities, these could be:

1) P2P activities that either show your PC to be offering a file with
the same hash value of a known CP file, or to have downloaded chunks
of such a file from a police "sting" computer.

2) A "sting" web site has been accessed for one reason or another.
