BTW, when you are dead, you are dead and you don't know it.
How do you know?
Svenne.
I do not 'know', in the actual, philosophical sense of the word (i.e
the truth, but then, I did not say 'I knew').
However, for anything else to be the case, contrary to all the
evidence and science, the probability of anything else being the case
is so infinitesimal, that it may be discounted, until a further
infinitesimal possibility arises, that some other information surfaces
to make it untrue.
Nobody has the slightest clue as to what is going on.
Physicists make rules that seem to explain to some degree some of the
mechanics of how some things work, but why they work, what they are
doing and even how they got here is beyond anyone's knowledge.
I really don't know how anyone can make absolute statements of what is
going on. I've never heard of or read anything of anyone who knows.
Lots of theories, of course. But theories are ten a penny.
What is actually going on is very likely beyond human comprehension or
even human imagining anyway.
Svenne
My statement was not 'absolute' (although there are millions I could
make, based on science), I have clarified what it was.
"Nobody has the slightest clue as to what is going on."
You are not a scientist, or know much about it, are/do you?
You mean there is somebody who knows where everything came from and
why it, and we that are part of it, are here.
What conciousness is and what it's place is in the totality of being
in which it exists.
Someone who understands the nature of being and non-being.
I hope it all gets explained, because here I find myself in existence,
completely against my will I might add since I was never consulted
about it, no instructions or clarifications of what it all is, or
where it is from, or where it is heading and I would really like to
know just what is going on thank you very much.
Svenne
There are a number of, what are possibly, unanswerable questions, as
they are not, yet, open to the scientific method (spatially and
temporally e.g. origin and fate of the universe) or are merely
rhetorical (i.e. "everything came from and why" ... there is no reason
'why?').
However, the majority of what is to be 'known', is ... all that is now
happening, are refinements and clarification of scale and detail.
Only a Post-modernist would believe otherwise.
"What conciousness is and what it's place is in the totality of bein
in which it exists"
I can help you with a model. The brain is the book, the grey and white
matter are the words, consciousness is the story.
The question is, how do we sense our own story? I have little doubt,
that will be answered by neuroscience, in a relatively short time.
The way you approach answering your last paragraph is to study
science.
