I am new to this forum so my apologies if this lands in the wrong
place-
first. I am very concerned about my job. I work in the NHS in a
role
which has a clerk attached to it. This all worked very well until
about a year ago when a new Team Leader deemed it that all TCs worked
the same, even though our particular area was inherently different to
the rest by covering two areas of work instead of one. Our TC can
therefore no longer support me with part of my role and I was offered
a
temp for a couple of hours a week to help out. I argued that this
wouldn't work as it was inherent in my own role and previously
inherent
in the TC role, but was told to get on with it. I have tried it and
it
isn't working. In fact the support from the temp has also waned to
virtually nothing.
On top of this, I work on the top floor of a building and have lots
of
files to bring to my office on a regular basis for this "other" part
of
my role. I have 2 degenerated discs in my back and requested a move
to
the ground floor because of the files, no support and carrying. I
was
told, last May, that this would be dealt with, but worst case
scenario
would be when someone retired in March 2009. I have now asked for an
update on this and have been told that that person would rather stay
where they are. On top of this, the person, who is my own Team
Leader,
has also questioned the other 2 people in my office about moving and
insinuations have been made that I am pressuring them to move. This
is
untrue because I asked them both before I asked for an update, but
they
said that was okay. I now find they are not okay about it and have
told this TL that. She is saying don't let her pressure you into
moving.
I asked for a salary upgrade last year to reflect the fact that I am
being paid the same as everyone else although I do a job which covers
two areas when others just cover one. My Line Manager's response?
"The first thing they will ask is what your sickness record is like".
I had just been off work sick for 2 weeks.
I am the only person in my department who currently covers both
areas.
I have an extremely busy job and am find the lack of co-operation in
terms of my work and my health very disparaging.
Separately to all of this, my husband has just been diagnosed with
heart problems, undergone two separate major surgeries and my mother
passed away suddenly in December. I am therefore well aware that I
am
not in the best frame of mind to make an accurate and unbiased
judgement on this.
I really feel that I am being pushed to the limits with the lack of
co-operation, comments being made and complete disregard for
anything.
I would really welcome any advice and support that anyone can offer.
I
have tried contacting ACAS, but sadly cannot get home in time to call
them and cannot do it from work, for obvious reasons.-
Are you in a union? If so they should be your first contact. Otherwise
call
ACAS from a mobile phone during you lunch break.

Thank you for your advice.
