Hi Everyone. I was wondering if anyone could offer me some help please.
I have applied for the LLB at Uni and i need to complete an essay which
is part of my 'interview'. Any advice would be welcome !! I have to
write 1000 words ......
Jill has a 6 year old daughter, Josie. Josie has recently been
diagnosed with terminal cancer but there is a new drug which could
help. The drug has not been approved for the NHS but is available from
high street chemists. It costs £20,000.00 per annum. Jill works in a
high street chemist shop, which provides her with an income of £100 per
week. She has no savings or other capital, and she lives in rented
accommodation with Josie.
Jill is thinking about stealing the drug. Should she do it ? Explain
any legal or moral basis on which she could justify breaking the law
and similarly any legal or moral basis on which the law should be
upheld in these circumstances .......
I think i have covered the moral aspects of this. Its just the legal
(as im pretty new to this) consequences that i am struggling with ....

I'd be interested to see the finished essay.
As to the legal consequences, the law would be fairly clear on the
matter: her actions amounted to theft. Though of course, I expect the
circumstances would go some distance in mitigation at the time of
sentencing.
