My local police force collected motorcycle accident statistics over a
number of years, which were included in a Department of Transport
report. One finding was that weather wasn't a factor.

That was probably because most sensible drivers will slow down in
wet/reduced visibility conditions - so they may actually drive more
safely; unlike the rider of the motorbike of course.

I'd like to see that written in an official report.

So, that leaves just the lack of road junctions, bendy roads, and
non-Wednesdays to explain away.


Perhaps if you could point us at that report we could read it and
judge for ourselves.

I understand that most motor bike accidents involve excessive speed
(is this correct do you know?)

The Government are looking at introducing Intelligent Speed limiters
for motorbikes - the riders are incapable of reducing their speed to
the applicable limit - so the hardware will do it for them. They
cannot be far away.

Sounds good to me.
