Any chance that it was because he wasn't really public spirited and
his interests lay in helping the Tories rather than the public.
Of course Cameron and Green couldn't have put him right on the correct
thing to do - could they?
Alan Johnson, on Question Time last night, made further reference to Green having 'induced' his mole to leak this information. ISTM that he wouldn't have made that accusation unless he was in possession of more facts than have yet come to light. If Green *had* been doing this then it puts an entirely different light on matters and certainly could lead to a conspiracy charge.
You cannot fight a sleazy and corrupt government by indulging in similar activities.
