There is no reason why the MP should not have said:
"It has been brought to my attention that an illegal immigrant has
been employed as a cleaner in the House of Commons. Could the
Minister confirm that this is the case?"
Of course that wouldn't have been a scoop for the Daily Mail though
(If he really thought that the information he had threatened national
security then of course he shouldn't)
