can you *please* fix your newsreader to quote properly.


It's not his newsreader that is at fault. The OP is posting through
Google Groups which somehow suppresses the responding news reader from
adding the quote marks ('>').

I was not aware of this problem when using my old desktop with Outlook
Express - is it a general problem with Windows Mail or just my WM that
requires some adjusting?


This has been discussed elsewhere. Somehow (I don't know how), Google
Groups posts are in someway different (in spite of claims that they are
completely compliant). They somehow prevent some (apparently not all)
copies of Outlook Express (and, apparently, Windows Mail in Vista) from
quoting properly. That both OE and Windows Mail seem to work correctly with
posts from every other source points the blame firmly at Google, in that
they are obviously not as compliant as others believe them to be.
