They didn't in 1983. I had a hell of a job returning a faulty transformer.
We (the university) had purchased it from them and they passed it round
their departments and electronic engineers examined it claiming it was
our fault and the transformer was fine when sold. There were no outward
signs of abuse - it just didn't work (cant remember if it was the primary
or secondary at fault). Anyway, telephone discussions went on for about 6
weeks before they finally gave in.
(so a techie told me when I asked about the returns policy)
