What an interesting case! How strange that a Polish man would be
considered another race. In the U.S.A. all the European races are
lumped under one category - White :)
So a relatively dark skinned Spaniard would be classed as White not
Hispanic?

Interesting question.
But interesting questions usually raise other equally interesting
questions.
I see a certain logic in what Meta said, as the white tribes of
Western and Eastern Europe are in fact cousins of the race we now call
"the Jews."
In this connection, I usually advise people to read "Europe and
America in Prophecy" by Garner Ted Armstrong.
Make a note of the link:

I don't agree with Mr Armstrong's Christian fundamentalism. But that
book of his is still very valuable in that it reveals an important
truth about the origins of the white race of Western and Eastern
Europe, which, for a start, makes nonsense of "anti-semitism."
As Meta pointed out, the USA immigration authorities take a logical
view by placing all whites in the same category........
They seem to understand that we are all children of Abraham.
As for a relatively dark-skinned Spaniard............ maybe he's
partly descended from the union of Abraham and Sarah, and partly from
the union of Abraham and Hagar. But he's still your cousin, another
child of Abraham.
