railway station, just looking through the magazines on the news-stand,
when I heard a voice behind me say "Do you intend to buy that
magazine?" I looked round and there was this transport cop with a
really smug look on his face. I told him I didn't know, and he then
said "Because if not, don't you think you ought to ask permission
before you read it?"
Worrying about the quality of personnel when a man in his fifties could look "really smug" in that situation. Quite sad really as well as worrying.
