NEARLY 1,400 registered sex offenders live within 25 miles of Shannon
Matthews' home, The Sun can reveal.
Many are based just a five-minute drive away.

And disturbingly, 11 have gone to ground in the past year, leaving
cops with no clue to their whereabouts.
The chilling figures emerged as Shannon's mum Karen and stepdad Craig
Meehan joined more than 100 well-wishers at a sunset vigil for the
missing nine-year-old ....

I'd be interested to know to what geographical level such info could be
obtained.
25 (circular?) miles sounds a wide area. Why not closer?

That may be a serious answer, but it is no answer at all.
If it *could* be FOI'd (I am pretty sure it can't), then there would
be a set radius as the minimum.
I did ask Webmanager if there was a minimum radius but he never came
back to answer. I think he may have realised he was talking wank - or worry.
I'd love to know if such a thing could be FoI'd what the radius is. If
there is, it would make for interesting control of sex offenders. For a
start, I would want to know who lives within 500 yards of the local
school and is on the SOR. It could make "Sarah's law" superfluous.
I doubt such a mechanism exists.
I am certain it would not exist at that level, because that would be
small enough to give too much identifying information about
individuals.
