Crown Property?

Choose the wrong bit of it, eg some bits of the Faslane Submarine
Base, and they can shoot you dead simply for stepping foot on it.
Not without issuing two verbal warnings first.
"Navy, Stop. Stand still".
Then if they fail to comply
"Navy, Stop or I shoot".
Even then, there are about a hundred additional terms and
conditions which could prevent the guard from legally being
allowed to open fire. It's all part of the MoD's Rules Of Engagement.
Every member of the armed forces charged with the control of a
weapon and live ammunition must carry a small credit card sized
document called "The White Card" which outlines the rules of
engagement. I'm sure there's probably a copy of it scanned and
available to view
on the internet somewhere. It's not like it's a classified
document.
Lying so-and-sos... I was up there many years ago and we were told
something different.

A Naval guy came out, all covered in gold braid. He asked to speak
to everybody and we were told that:

1) if we broke through the first fence, we would be arrested by
unarmed civilian MoD police - supported by armed service personnel,
who would take their place if we approached the inner fence or
threatened the
police.
Absolutely correct.

The MOD police are armed at Faslane.

This was, ahem, quite a few years ago. The ones I remember seeing
certainly weren't. They were mostly very unfit and quite old...
although there was a youngish dog handler that everyone fancied.

There did seem to be two lots of people with guns.

The ones who walked along the inside of the outer fence. Sometimes in
twos and sometimes in fours, carrying rifles and wearing blue trousers
and shirts (and raincoats and berets). When anyone did get through the
outer fence, these guys would turn up, but without the guns. They
would grab people and and them over to the MoD police at the gate.
Whether the *theory* was that the MoD guys would come and grab
people, to be quite honest, they really didn't look up to anything
strenuous.
Whilst that was going on, another lot used to appear inside the inner
fence. But not very many of them and they looked like army. They
seemed to have much shorter rifles than the others - which, I must
admit, I had thought were automatic weapons. When it had all
quietened down, they just disappeared again.

It has probably all changed now - that was a long time ago.

Most of it is for show and effect.
The same rules of engagement apply.
