I would venture to suggest that under the circumstances you would be
better advised to leave it at that.
Why ON EARTH?!!! What terrible crime did that 6-year-old perpetrate to
get his teeth knocked out? What you SHOULD have said, had you any
feelings at all, which you obviously do not (even though you "purport"
to be on the side of children), is that the school should immediately
investigate who did it and that the police would be called in to
severly reprimand the bullies who did this.

MM

Please remember that the source of the problem is the school.
1) Head was contacted by the SS and told there was a child protection
issue in the past related to the father.  The Head assumed, without
talking to me or my husband, that my husband is a hands on child
molester.
2) Head overheard me making arrangements for a child to come over for
tea afterschool and "warned" the mother
3) She went to the pub and started shouting her mouth off

Fortunately only two other mothers took her rant on board.  There are
only three children who taunt my son in the way described.  I
complained last school year and my son was moved to another class away
from these 3 boys.  Otherwise he is very social and mixes well.

You say you complained. Did you speak to the Head Teacher? Did she
apologise and give any assurance that it wouldn't happen again? If not,
did you take it further, by complaining to the education authority/board
of governors?

It is a breach of confidentiality and it would be a good idea to make an
issue of it. It is arguably a breach of your right (your child's right)
to privacy under the Human Rights Act. It might even be worthwhile
threatening a defamation action against the head, which would (even if
you didn't go so far as to launch proceedings) make them take the
complaint seriously.

When I contacted the school this morning, the answer I got was that
they did not have the ability to police the playground in such detail
and stop social interaction in an open field.

They can and must do something when a particular child is targeting
another child. The threat of litigation might concentrate their minds,
but needless to say it could be counterproductive. If they see you as a
bolshy mother they might take their revenge by encouraging the malicious
gossip about your husband. Teachers are sometimes as malicious as their
pupils.

Fortunately for us, he was by this morning more interested in showing
his friends the xray of his mouth!  My husband isn't quite as up
beat.  Imagine having your six year old ask you "Daddy are you a perv
because X said you are."
TC

And that's a difficult subject to get into. Daddy says "no, they've got
it wrong," child goes back to X and says "you're wrong", X goes back to
his parents and tells them, then they prime X with more questions to
ask, more points to score.- Hide quoted text -

Yes Todal. We have gone to the LEA and the Chair of governers. I
have written twice to request their bullying policy. I am yet to see
it.

I know that the Head has been told to keep his big mouth shut from now
on- he has been told by the Police and the SS that my husband is
extremely low risk (they argue that no man could ever be a zero risk
to children- which in my view is sexist).

And yes his current teacher views me as a "bolshie" mother. (Because
basically I think she is a crap teacher- fortunately he only has her
2.5 days a week- the other teacher he has is excellent)

As for my husband's answer to our son "That is a very serious
accusation to make against someone and I don't want to hear that
question again- don't ever ask someone that. Do you even know what
that means?"- My son said no. "Well, don't ask people that- it is a
very offensive term to use".
