Bought Medion computer from Aldi 15 February 2007, 3 year warranty.
Yesterday (Friday) computer just went off, no power, no lights, no
fan
turning, no hard drive turning, completely dead.
Took it back to Aldi, they say it's not their problem I have to send
it back to manufacturer... is that the correct?

No, it's most certainly not correct.

You have a reasonable expectation of the goods to be durable, and 12
months is not reasonable as a failure for a laptop computer. Your
beef
is with Aldi themselves, as it is they that the contract is with.
where did he say it was a laptop?

TO be fair, he didn't. But we both know it is. You'll also note he
didn't
correct me...

The "no fan turning" brought me to a different conclusion. Not that many
laptops have fans and, with those that do, the fan rarely is set to run
at power up.

Not all laptops are equal. Some do get hot, some don't. There were times
where laptop makers cut corners and put desktop processors in laptops.

But that was when they just got a bit hot without one, not now that they
stop working completely.
