mustaphasiddique (mustaphasiddique@xxxxxxx) gurgled happily, sounding much
like they were saying:
FFS, what's _wrong_ with used parts, anyway? Every single one of my
cars has been fitted with (perfectly good condition, often better than
new non- OEM-quality) used parts at various times. It's called
recycling...
Nothing at ll if they are from a known good source, fitted by someone
who knows what they are doing
That's another one that you've U-turned on and are now agreeing with my
original point... You're not proving very consistent here, y'know.
and there is some comeback if things go wrong
Oh, ffs... Seriously? What kind of "comeback" do you really think you
have against even a professional workshop on a car they may have worked
on before you recently purchased it privately?
but DIY bodgers without a clue or a qualification to match being allowed
to 'rebulit' a Cat C (with EVERYTHING that category entails)
Do enlighten me as to what that is, please?
Clue: Repair costs more than the vehicle's worth, at insurance labour
rates and parts at dealer list.
My own main car is in the throes of (hopefully) just escaping being a
CatC after having somebody reverse into the rear wing. No structural
damage, nothing more than light panel damage. But the bodyshop quote is
very close to the vehicle's value.
Total parts required for the repair? One side rubbing strip. Forty quid.
Anyway, what IS the difference between a "DIY bodger without a clue"
doing body repairs or mechanical repairs? Other, of course, than poor
quality bodywork is far more likely to be immediately visible to anybody.
How about repairs to rust damaged bodywork?
car which they then sell on to some silly single parent cow with even
less of a clue
Ever heard the phrase "caveat emptor"? Buy any used car privately, you
have no come-back, so you had better either have a clue when you inspect
it or get somebody with clue to do so. I really fail to see how any
previous insurance claim history it may have would affect that.
seems a poor price to pay for 'recycling'.
Still waiting for you to show me the difference between used and new
parts on this kind of repair, y'know.
Or, indeed, between any repaired write-off and any normal used car.
