Thousands of people have marched in the Sudanese capital Khartoum to
call for UK teacher Gillian Gibbons to be shot.
Ideally, fifteen days will pass, this woman will come home, and the
rest of us will remember Sudan next time we're asked to make a
charitable donation...
However - if the Sudan public get their way - may I suggest my own
form of protest: find old teddy bears you don't want, make some
cardboard labels and pin them to the bears.
The bears should be labelled Mohammed; Jesus; Buddha - and names of
other deities.
Accompanied by a letter explaining that a label is immaterial, and if
a superstition is that threatened by a simple label, the imaginary
friend cannot be all that powerful.
I'm NOT suggesting racism or racial hatred - just a simple action to
help point out to the Sudan government how ridiculous their actions
are.
Yep , I can see that cartoons representing Muslims as terrorists could cause offence , but a bunch of primary school kids naming a bear FFS.......
