Sorry correction - he came right in her face with the tool (a
screwdiver or chisel) in his hand and said 'if you ever look at me
funny again I'll fucking kill you'. She had her had her 2 year old
daughter with her at the time as she was just taking her to nursery.

I wonder if she identified the weapon correctly? If it were a
firearm, it would make the World of difference to the reaction from
the police. Easy for a distraught woman to mistake a gun for a
screwdriver or vice-versa. Even trained firearms officers have been
known to mistake table legs for shotguns, so she could hardly be
criticised for making a similar mistake should she be threatened
again. Added to which the likely response might have more impact on
the guy than a softly-softly visit from a couple of community support
officers.
