Hey Alex old sport, giving the sort of legal advise you do over at
UKLM could be cause for the poster to sue you if he/she takes it, or
at the very least report you to plod or the law Society, let me point
out to you that you:

a) dont have any legal qualifications at all.
b) Have never been admitted to practise law.
c) Do not have a practicing certificate.
d) Do not have practising insurance.

And you are all around in breach of several acts of parliament that
forbids an un qualified persons giving legal advise as often as you
do, ie. you do it so often that a person may well come to the belief
that you are a lawyer, when in fact you are nothing more than a con
man.

Of course other more qualified persons than you ( I am talking about
qualified lawyers) know full well they are in breach of there
practicing certificates (which only covers there work with the firms
they work for)...so why not create the worlds first pro bono group on
the net, you could use Mcgee or Davey to front it and make then mods
to boot (both are retired).

A few points:

1) To my knowledge Alex Heney has never held himself out as a lawyer;
2) No one is required to hold a practicing certificate simply to
provide legal advice; and
3) No one would be in breach of a PC by reason of giving such advice
(or more accurately expressing an opinion) in a newsgroup.

Other than these points, a very interesting* post Tony.

* not really

Ah Ah, my old mate Tommo, I can see you and i are going to have fun:
aside from the obvious that Heney gives avery forceful opinion often
couched in legal language si that a reasonable person may well come to
think of him as expressing a legal point of view just like a lawyer
would, one might feel he is indeed holding himself out to be a lawyer,
he never for one moment says he is not......deceptive conduct perhaps,
you betcha sweet life it is

BUT.

Now old sport,Lets take your conduct, care to tell the folk at your
firm that you *give* free legal opinions on the net, that your
behavior is less than gentile on the net, that you in fact have avery
bad temper on the net, no of course not, you want to hide the fact
that you are associated with the group, you know why, cos your firms
practising certificate does not cover you for giving out an opinion on
the net. So dont tell me a pack of lies you old goat and read ore than
one contract law book, your knowledge is woefully lacking.
