Erratic driving?
Could be a learner driver? Bad driver? Falling asleep at the wheel? Old
driver? Swerving to avoid something on the road? Why is erratic driving
cause to suspect someone having a drink when seeing them walk out of a pub
isn't?
Failing to put your lights on
I've done this and you probably have also. If the street lighting is
inadequate and your thoughts are elsewhere sometimes people do forget to
put their lights on until alerted by other road users. Another issue I
find is that some people think you have to put your lights on when it is
raining (despite visibility not being seriously reduced). I often get
"flashed" by oncoming traffic for not doing this...so me knowing the
highway code better than others is a reason to suspect I've been drinking
but being seen walking from a pub isn't?
The fact that you left a pub is not, IMO, a cause for suspicion except in
the minds of people who are suspicious of everything.
Like I said, if being seen walking from a pub is not enough to suspect
someone has been drinking I really don't know what is.
But if I see you walking out of Woolworths - is that good enough reason for
me to suspect that you have bought something in that shop?
Another factor is the type of pub. If it's a 'Beefeater' or similar type of
restaurant pub then there is even less reason to suspect that someone
leaving the car park has been drinking.
