I agree 100% - and don't you think that there will have been
countless
de-briefs, meetings, policy revisions, etc. within the Met after the
Menezes
shooting? Or do you think that would only happen after a
prosecution?
It will only happen after the police admit at the very least that
they
were negligent.
Rubbish. They know full well that things went wrong - and all the
above de-briefs etc *will* have taken place. I can guarantee it.
Kev
And if their chief officers are involved in a cover-up?
And if the government lies to the people?
Non sequitur.
Interesting how you don't condemn such behaviour. You cannot even
comprehend it happening.
You could be shown a cover-up and you would imagine there must have been
a good reason for it.
It could be proved to you that there wasn't a good reason at all, that
the officers involved were saving their own skins, and you would then
describe it as an isolated case.
Police officers are normal people. And like normal people, _some_
police officers are corrupt and dishonest.
You have the cheek to accuse others of not being objective. PKB.
I am more than willing and ready to accept that there are corrupt and
dishonest police officers - in the same way that I accept that there are
corrupt politicians, lawyers, surgeons, clergymen, etc. There are
*always* bad people in every walk of life - in fact I believe that the
vast majority of people are corrupt in one way or another. From the most
serious types of corruption down to those who nick stationery from work
or don't point out that they have been given too much in change.
If you can find a single post of mine where I have ever attempted to
suggest that all police officers are 100% honest and decent then I'll eat
my hat!
I didn't claim you did. My claim is that you can't answer a straight
question about police dishonesty. And once again you prove me right.
I have fully accepted that there are corrupt and dishonest police officers.
What on earth else do you want me to say? !
I also accept that some police officers, like many other people, will do
their utmost to protect themselves from prosecution by seeking to hide
uncomfortable facts and even telling lies. I don't condone it - but I
would suggest that most people under investigation for a possible crime
will do exactly that - they will seek to present their case in the best
possible way, even it means distorting the truth. Unless a defendant is
'bang to rights' and has no possible defence, then I believe that most
people in that position will do their damndest to seek acquittal. Do you
disagree?
Now it is very easy to condemn such actions as being dishonest, and of
course they are, - but would you act any differently if you were a
defendant? Would you be 100% honest if you knew that being so would
inevitably result in your conviction?
I wouldn't be dishonest in the first place!
And you accuse me of avoiding answering questions !!
Kev
