Well it's a pity that those "highly trained" officers didn't have the
sense to select the territory of the confrontation a bit more
intelligently. They had *many* minutes to make their choice, and they
were holding all the cards. Yet they chose a place where there was no
cover and chose a confrontational technique in which almost *any*
movement from the suspect would be seen as a possible lethal threat
for which the only defence action was to kill the suspect.

After making those stupid decisions, the outcome was pretty much
inevitable.

If that's the level that is considered to be "highly trained", then I
suggest we start importing our armed police from a country with higher
standards.

Good suggestion Cynic - now which country are you referring to that has a
higher level of selection and vetting and training, and dramatically fewer
mistaken shootings? I really would be interested to know.
