I've not had any problem with either over many years, just showing the
analysis as 'sales'.
Do not the HRMC do test purchases just to see what is actually
recorded ?
They wouldn't say if they did, but I doubt it. They do carry out inspections
of the books from time to time, particularly if you claim a large VAT
refund. However, for anything that is subject to standard rate VAT they
don't care what you have sold, only whether the VAT has been correctly
calculated.
