For the past 3 months I have been told by the Police that they have
intelligence that certain people wish to do me serious harm, They even
offered to install a panic button in my home, I have therefore acted in a
very low profile in the area I live. I think I have Sciatica and
desperatley
need to see a GP.

I dont wish to go to my current surgery as I have been told to avoid the
area as best I can. I went to ask another surgery today and the
receptionist
told me it would not be possible, I then complained and stated I thought
the
reasons given were not acceptable and she has told me to phone the
practice
manager.

I have not told the receptionist my reason, only that I would like never
to
visit my current surgery again. I was hoping this would be a simple
affair.
They say I need a very good reason to change, I dont see that I should
have
and dont want to have to go into it but Its hard enough to live like this.

I need advice on what to say to the practice manager. This country is so
wrong for the money we pay. I have tried to see a private doctor but I
cant
do that without being reffered.

Can I just go to a hospital and see a doctor ?? At the moment some
morning's
I cant even walk, Im even taking tablets that are out of date for the
pain.

Changing your doctor without good reason is not an easy matter.
Normally you can only do it if you change address.

You really need to get a letter from the police stating that they have
intelligence that certain people wish to do you serious harm and take
that to the Primary Care Trust for your area. In these circumstances,
I think you will be allocated to another GP.

If you merely state that certain people wish to do you serious harm
with no evidence to back it up, they may well refer you to a
psychiatrist with a view to having you "sectioned" under the Mental
Health Act.

I have left a message on the answerphone of the officer in charge, I also
have somwhere a copy of - is it the Bosman ruling - Something to do with
Stephen Lawrence or Damiola Taylor that I had to sign before I left the
Police station and refused there temporary accomodation. I had to sign this
twice, I could show that to the practise manager, just a matter of finding
it.

I suspect that the previous poster's comment below was not far from
the truth:

they may well refer you to a
psychiatrist with a view to having you "sectioned" under the Mental
Health Act.
