LCD TV purchased Nov 05 with 3 year Manufacturers Warranty.

Although your primary warranty is with the retailer, under current
consumer law, the manufacturer is bound by the terms of any
warranty that he provides. Note that it is the manufacturer who is
bound - you have no relationship with the Independent Company.

You don't say who the manufacturer is,
You also don't say what the feature is. It may be
that the feature is something that could not be tested at the time
of manufacture due to the lack of other suitable hardware (quite a
common occurance these days).

Sharp 32" Aquos LCD with HDMI port
Sony AR31S (Blue Ray) with HDMI output fails to connect to the LCD.
Checked the AR31S on a JVC thro the HDMI port and it worked OK
You make an interesting point with regard to the feature not
being tested particularly as the service org. had it for 3 weeks
and returned it in the same condition without a report.

Have you checked the config settings for this equipment , some systems
wil automatically set themselves up ,some require some user input
others need to be manually set up
