He is an arse, obviously. But so are you, for making such a ludicrous
statement.
Its only ludicrous if you believe what the nanny state has been force
feeding us on the subject. Global Warming is a cyclical event in our
planets history, its happened before (many times) and it'll happen
again. Where's the proof its direct attributed to modern lifestyle and
'carbon emission'?
The science underpinning global warming has nothing to do with the "nanny
state". Carbon dioxide does not care how you vote, or even if you vote.
It's
a greenhouse gas, and it behaves according to its physical properties.
Atmospheric levels of CO2 are increasing due to human activities, and this
affects the radiative equilibrium between the incoming solar radiation and
the heat radiated back into space from the upper atmosphere. The planet
gets
warmer as a result.
The present warming is acyclic. There are no external forcings to account
for it. I'm always amused by people who triumphantly announce that the
climate is always changing, as if this might somehow have been missed by
the
people who actually study the subject! You only know about past climate
changes because of the work of the very people whose field of study is now
telling you that recent warming is our fault!
There is no such thing as proof in any empirical science. The best you can
ever have is a high degree of certainty about something, and that is
exactly
where we are with global warming. Further reading:
So the environmentalists have brain washed you.
You are correct in one thing only. There is no proof of any of your post.
It was a convincing explanation designed to provide the credence to the
change that the political pressure groups (called en-vir-on-men-tal-ists)
had already decided they wanted to happen. This is the way all political
pressure groups have operated.
There is growing evidence that the CO2 in the atmosphere is regulated by
conversion proceses that take place in the world's oceans. The level of CO2
is held more or less level because it is regulated by its solubility in the
waters of the ocean. If the CO2 levels rise, more disolves and the marine
plant life thrives and converts it into O2 which is not as soluble and so
passes back into the atmosphere. The problem is the regulation point is
temperature dependant. As the sun heats the planet, the temperature of the
oceans rises and this reduces the solubilty of the CO2. Thus the regulation
point moves and the CO2 level in the atmosphere rises. Nothing to do with
man.
The environmentalists claim that this started with the Industrial
Revolution, but it is known that the warming process has been going on for
far longer than that. Even the records of the River Thames freezing in
London (or in the case of 13th century records, recording the rare occasion
that it failed to freeze) shows that the climate has been warming for at
least the last 800 years. In fact it has been going on since the last Ice
Age. It is known that at these times there was a lot less CO2 in the
atmosphere, but a lot more O2. In earlier times, it is known from trapped
air in earlier ice that the level of CO2 has been a lot higher than it is
now, even though large parts of the planet were covered in ice.
The envoronmentalists have been attempting to rubbish what is known because
it doesn't happen to fit their agenda. But their only way out is to claim
that, "... everyone knows its green house gases generated by man that is
causing global warming". Only because they keep telling us that.
