The detectors use no laser at all, they *detect* the laser, they do
not output anything.
The laser *jammers* are potentially far more effective, but they are
illegal. The output of the jamming device does not need to be great
at all, because it only has to be of similar magnitude to the
*reflected* light from the speed trap laser.
I have seen them advertised as being able to be disguised as garage
door openers, a task that they will also perform.
