Dogs have no place in and office

Perhaps you are mentally ill - if you prefer an animal free environment. No wonder you suffer from stress. A good percentage of city people actually get a lot of pleasure and benefit from interacting with an animal. The important thing is that it should have a nice clean regularly changed bed in the corner where it reposes, that it should be happy and not make a nuisance of itself.

Personally,I don't see that their inabilitity to bond with humans should mean that their pet should be inflicted on the rest of us or that cruelty should be inflicted on them.

Cities aren't the place for dogs. My neighbour's farm dogs were at work today in the fields - clearly enjoying every minute of their lives. I've never seen a city dog look as if it was enjoying life to anything like the same extent. Not for them, four walls and a basket. A real job of work and play and not just, "not make a nuisance of itself"

Well that's a dog for you - all they ask for is a fair days work for a fair days play !

It's because they ask for so little that people have them as child-substitutes and as "companions" . They will put up with far, far more than a human would, imported slave excepted. And can't call the police or child line either.

The average child would be bored stiff being taken to an office.

True, but yesterdays child is now more than likely to be employed in the office, or call centre,

Happily? How many of those would rather be living in the countryside? How many dream of a "holiday home" away from the city?

Why inflict that on a child-substitute?

That's an interesting comment but it doesn't stand up on it's own, or else why would peoplewith children also have a dog(s), ?

The ones I have met or know have all had problems relating to people and to their own children. Almost all are on their second or third try at marriage. I suppose the Windsors at Buck House are an exception to the latter - but look at what the son has to say about his parents..

There are undoubtedly some "normal" people that keep dogs, even keep dogs as family pets with no useful purpose. I guess that I might get to meet one of them, some day.
