why is this application memory and CPU hogging?
If the automatic update checking is switched on, it has been fairly
widely reported that it's bugged to fook and can practically lock-up
the computer for up to an hour at a time.
My wifes' machine is suffering from similar at the moment, but only
for about 20 minutes at a time :-/ - the "trick" apparently is to
switch off automatic updates, and check manually yourself from time to
time.
Recent threads in alt.sys.pc-clone.dell will give more info on it IIRC
.
