My questions are:
If it's in my g/fs contract (that she can't recall seeing) then fair enough
my g/f is in the wrong - she knows this but what could be the maximum
punishable offence for this? Will it be a verbal warning and if so does this
have to be done in person or over the phone?
That depends on the companies disciplinary procedure, but shouldn't be
more than a verbal warning. I suspect these are normally done in
person but ICBW.
For the record my g/f has to work 15 mins extra every day as the shop shuts
at 5:30pm and she is only paid until then yet she has to cash up after
that - if she chooses to be awkward can she claim this back?
Figure out what her hourly pay works out at including these 15 minutes
(don't forget, if she gets paid for lunch you'll have to account for
that too). If it drops her below minimum wage, then maybe. Otherwise
it depends on the contract. That said, when I was working a minimum
wage job that regularly went on until 3-4am, but stopped paying at
2:30am, I queried it with whichever bit of government deals with such
things (it's 6am - I really can't be arsed to look it up) and they
said that depending on my contract even this could be OK, so I doubt
she's going to have much luck.
