Ok. I own a X reg Landrover Freelander that in June 05 had a serious.
engine fault requireing a new engine. I took it to a local landrover
specialist (garage 1) who took the job on. After 4 months, they still
had not sourced a suitable used engine for the vehicle, claiming that
they had been trying but with no luck. Buy this time the other engine
was in bits and therefore useless.
I took the task in hand and phoned a few breakers yards to source an
engine myself. I took me two weeks. another 2 months, garage 1
phoned and said that it was i slightly different freelander engine but
they could fit it anyway. I called on a 2 week basis for a number of
months to be assured that whislt it was taking time, it would be ready
soon. This went on for months. I had considered moving garages but
the car was in pieces. In sept 06, garage 1 phoned to say that they
could fix the vehicle.
I phoned a number of other garages who said, after hearing what had
been done, refused to take the job on as they said they would be
chasing someones elses mistakes and couldn't guarentee getting it
fixed, so i was stuck with garage 1.
Garage 1 then phoned to tell me they sent it to a 'mates garage'
~(garage 2) who after a couple of months said that garage 1 had
botched it so badly, they couldn't repair it either, although he
didn't want to get involved legally and wouldn't put this to paper.
Garage 1 took the car back 2 months ago and phoned a couple of times
to say it would be ready soon. They now ignored my phone messages and
letters. I have since moved with work and the garage is a 2 hour
drive away.
Help, what can i do???!
